European Parliaments Recognize Crimean Tatar Deportation as Genocide
By Ahmet Özay
The Netherlands has joined the countries recognizing the deportation of Crimean Tatars by Soviet dictator Josef Stalin as genocide.
The Crimean Tatar National Parliament delegation received the decision on the recognition of Crimean Tatar deportation by the Netherlands during the 51st Foreign Ministers Council Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul.
Welcomed with Joy
The Netherlands' decision to recognize the deportation of Crimean Tatars under Stalin as genocide was received with great joy by Tatars living in the diaspora.
Pressure Continues
In the Dutch Parliament's decision, reference was made to the historical tragedy of 1944 in which 46% of Crimean Tatars died. The ongoing pressure on Crimean Tatars since Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 was also emphasized.
Turkey Does Not Spare Support
Turkey has clearly emphasized Ukraine's territorial integrity from the first moment of Crimea's occupation. Most recently, Crimean Turks' National Leader Mustafa Abdülcemil Kırımoğlu and Crimean Tatar National Parliament President Refat Çubarov were officially invited as observers to the OIC Foreign Ministers Meeting in Istanbul at Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's invitation.

While Washington is gradually reducing its military presence in Europe, it aims to establish a new, Northern Hemisphere–centered security architecture focused on the Venezuela–Cuba–Greenland axis. In other words, instead of building a new “Berlin Wall,” the United States is moving toward constructing an “Atlantic Wall” designed to protect itself.
